For a while, I maintained a blog to talk about the fun things I like to do. Then, around the same time, I fled the country and Facespace got big. Without consistent Internet access, and with the availability of such a simple medium as Myface, I found I posted there instead of here. But with the encouragement of a few good friends, new and old, I have decided to start back up.
The new manifestation of the blog will focus on food. Mostly, the food I make, though I'm sure other eats will sneak in. It seems that in the last 2-3 years, lots of people have jumped on the food bandwagon. Lots of people have food blogs. And heck, just about everybody likes to eat. I am 90% sure other blogger's recipes are more original, their presentation more professional, and their photos more appetizing. But, we all have unique palates and I'd like to share mine. I grew up with an adventurous cook for a mother, had grandparents that were hippies well before hippies existed, spent summers in the South, the rest of the year on the West Coast, lived in Japan for a few years, and have always appreciated honest food first and foremost.
The reason I figure people may enjoy my blog about food is not just my own unique palate. One of the kindest compliments I've ever received about my cooking came at a bachelorette party from a guest that had been partaking. She asked who had made one of the hors d'oeuvres. I owned it. She raved. Again, she asked who had made one of the other hors d'oeuvres. I admitted to it as well. This lovely lady turned to me and said, "Your cooking f%^&ing rocks because YOU MAKE WHAT PEOPLE WANT...none of that frilly crap".
I feel that sums it up well. I make what people want. I do my best to make people happy, and food is one of the ways I best know how.
Well, as usual I think you sell yourself a bit short ;)
ReplyDeleteI like your recipes and I like your perspective! I'm actually excited about trying some of these out, so I for one am glad you're posting!
Thanks for the post -j. I really appreciate it. And I hope that you enjoy more than a few of the recipes! I'll be posting a simple one involving cheese very soon...I think you might like it.
